The former president's Granddaughter Seeks Expert Tips from Golf Legend Woods Ahead of LPGA First Appearance

Emerging athlete preparing for significant tournament

The rising star boasts impressive social media following

Kai Trump can count on plenty of well-known backers as she starts her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.

The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to a former US president, obtained a special exemption to compete at the Annika competition in the Sunshine State.

Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, operates several golf courses and frequently competes against Kai.

"He's pretty good. I shouldn't elaborate but we have some close matches," she revealed.

Kai explained that her grandfather, who cannot attend, told her: "Just avoid anxiety."

"My grandpa essentially suggested to go out there and relax," she added.

"In my eyes, he's just an ordinary family member. He can't make it for the tournament. He's busy with presidential duties, making him quite busy."

As an amateur, the golfer has played in just three tournaments this year and has ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.

Yet she's able to seek guidance from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with Vanessa.

"He is the top athlete globally," the young golfer said.

"And he's a superior individual. He advised me to play, relax, adapting to whatever happens."

She'll challenge several most prominent players in the sport at the Annika, including world number two Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

Officials stated that involving Kai helps introduce the sport to new audiences, specifically with younger fans.

The social media influencer has substantial online presence and just introduced her own fashion and living label.

Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
