World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
