Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
